one that dumped more than a foot of snow in the federal u.s. has disrupted air travel. it's now over the great lakes. at least seven deaths have been reported including three in iowa. victims were killed in a 30 car pileup on interstate 35. also the power was knocked out for 400,000 homes anopias in -- homes and businesses in about 13 states. o'hare airport canceled hundreds of flights. o'hare is the hub for united airlines. flights are expected to be back on schedule today. >>> it is coming up on 5:04. overnight a police chase ended in a firey crash in antioch. it happened after 1:30 this morning on highway 4. a robbery suspect hit a retaining wall during a police chase and his car burst into flames. the suspect managed to get out of the car and run off but he was found about two blocks away. and taken to the hospital. >>> also in overnight news fire torched the inside of a san pablo home. lorraine blanco is live at the scene on collin street with details on what may have led to this emergency. good morning, lorraine. >> reporter: good morning. it's barely a a.m. you -- it's barely

and across the board spending cuts will take effect. that could plunge the u.s. economy into another recession. >>> people on both sides of the controversial same sex marriage issue will be closely watching the u.s. supreme court this morning. just an hour and a half from right now the high court is due to release another list of cases. coming up at 5:15 what it will mean if california's proposition 8 is on that list and what it means if it's not. >>> muni and other agencies are thinking about a controversial plan when it comes to their fair rates. muni is considering basing how much people pay on how much money they earn. according to the examiner some people don't think it's fair that people who are struggling to pay their bills have to pay $64 for a monthly pass while senior citizens who have more money are only paying $22 for the same fair. now this newest plan was triggered by the debate over providing free muni passes to low income youth. >>> 5:04 is the time. we are still talking about that accident in livermore. let's go to tara. >> this is on 580 eastbound. it happened at fl

the announcement this morning while meeting with u.s. troops at an air base in turkey. 400 u.s. troops will be assigned to the missiles. >>> there is a new twist in the fiscal cliff negotiation in washington, d.c.. as ktvu kilah campbell reports, going over that cliff may be the only way to reach a deal. >> reporter: dave, house speaker john boehner plans to head home today to ohio with no fiscal cliff deal in sight. the two met again at the white house last night but there is no deal on the table. and insiders say there may not be one until january. and here's why. democrats are sticking to their plan to raise taxes on the wealthy. republicans aren't backing down from extending their current tax rates and slashing spending. if neither side budges our company will tumble over the fiscal cliff until january 1st. they can all tell their constituents we tried and it didn't work but now everyone's taxes have gone up and we must compromise. a move like that irresponsible and the markets are already reacting to the possibility. more than that in my next update. live in washington kyla campb

on the deadly attacks at the u.s. consulate in benghazi, libya. the panel found there were major security problems. >> reporter: an independent panel spent the past two months analyzing what went wrong in benghazi on september 11th. ambassador chris for stevens and three other americans were killed. the panel found security was lacking and those at the consulate could not have anticipated the attack. also the report says there were no protests leading up to the attack. that is in the unclassified portion of the attack. other details are considered top secret. the report also includes 24 recommendations for the state department. secretary of state hillary clinton says she's already working on implementing them. ranging from strengthening security to improving intelligence gathering. now clinton was supposed to testify at a hearing on the benghazi attacks tomorrow but she no longer will after suffering a concussion over the weekend. now in 15 minutes the senate and house foreign relation committees will be briefed on the initial findings of the report and republicans are already speaking ou
